This semester focuses on all the texts that are not included in the other genre-semesters. These texts bend and defy genre and must be placed in a category of their own: genre omnivorous. Where, for example, does one place Mark Danielewski’s House of Leaves, or Haruki Murakami, or Steven Hall’s The Raw Shark Texts, or George Saunders’ The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil, and so many more. This unclassified genre must be explored so students gain confidence in finding their niche and style.
Brace yourselves for a mind-bending, rule-breaking semester!
