Semesters at a Glance

Every semester is genre-driven, and consists of 5-6 classes that build the foundation for an understanding of the semester’s genre, but also how this genre connects to others. Take a closer look below at the classes you will take each semester. Each semester, most forms of creative writing will be read, analyzed, and practiced: popular fiction, literary fiction, screenwriting, nonfiction, poetry, children’s literature, playwriting, as well as genres that break form and create new forms, for example blogging and journalism styles and conventions. In this way, all students in our program can practice different styles of writing.
